Why 27 Days?

Research shows our skin regenerates itself every 27 days, which is why it takes this amount of time to see true effects of any new skin care regiment. During this process, our old epidermis (visible) skin cells die and are replaced with new skin cells. This means we have the opportunity to give our skin a proper life by following an effective skin routine suited for our particular environment. Remember, moisture is the key to all living organisms, so it is important to hydrate from the inside in order to benefit completely from your Chilyo products.

About Our Skin – the Basics

Our skin is the largest organ on our body, made up of several different components, including water, protein, lipids, as well as different minerals and chemicals. On average, our skin weighs about six pounds. Its job is crucial: to protect us from infections and germs – aka Our Environment. Throughout life, our skin will change constantly, for better or worse. In fact, our skin will regenerate itself approximately every 27 days. Proper skin care is essential to maintaining the health and vitality of this protective organ in order for the following 27 days cycles to show healthy cellular results.

1. Epidermis

The outermost layer of our skin, the epidermis protects us from our environment.

2. Dermis

The dermis, rich in collagen and elastin, is tasked with support and is typically the layer responsible for deep wrinkles and furrows.

3. Hypodermis

The hypodermis, composed of loose connective tissue that anchor the skin, can be the source of sagging skin.

Inflammation and Your Skin

It is important to note that inflammation is believed to be the root cause of most disease. In fact, any medical condition that ends in “-itis” simply means “inflammation.” It is a natural defense mechanism in the body that sends signals to your immune system to recognize damaged cells, irritants, and pathogens, and thus, it begins the healing process.

When something harmful or irritating affects a part of our body, there is a biological response to try to remove it. The signs and symptoms of inflammation can be uncomfortable, but they show that the body is trying to heal itself. The good news is, because your cells are regenerating daily, it is possible to protect the new cells as they created.

Because skin is your body’s largest organ, it inspired Chilyo formulate all of our products with ingredients meant to reduce your skin’s inflammation and to protect your skin from its environment. In fact, our name even means “healing” in the Korean language. Everything we develop is meant to provide healing to your skin, so that as new cells develop, they are strong and remain healthy.

Skin Regeneration

The body is constantly renewing itself. While every cell in our body ages and eventually dies, miraculously, new cells are being born, being created and replacing the old cells every single day.

Most experts agree that about – are you ready for this – 10 to 20 million cells are dying and being replaced by new cells every second in our body. This is the way our bodies repairs themselves, heals illness and disease, re-grows tissue, repairs bones and even replaces organs.

The concept of skin regeneration is fascinating and it is why there are so many skin care products on the market today. However, we believe our products stand out, as they were developed specifically to work with the regenerated skin cells.
